RT Beginner Class (Beginner 1/Beginner 2)
This class is for you once you have mastered stopping/starting (circles) in intro class, can balance on one leg comfortably (both right and left), can skate forwards and backwards, can propel yourself on skates with all 8 wheels on the floor, can shift weight from front to back skate (heel-toe shuffle), and can step on skates quickly and confidently.
In this class, you will learn the basic steps to doing fluid routines with Roll Train, including grapevine, grapevine box, several other grapevine variantions, g-slide, side-to-side shuffle, air force ones, Quackstep, and other similar combinations.
You may see “Beginner 1” and “Beginner 2” as class titles on the schedule. This is a loose reference for the pace of the class, with Beginner 1 moving a bit slower than Beginner 2 — ideal for those just coming out of Intro class.
If you are at Beginner level, you can come to either or both! If you are at Intermediate level, there are still new drills to learn and master in both classes.
Beginner 1 will focus on slower grapevines, backwards skating, spins, and quick stepping routines. Beginner 2 will have more grapevine variations strung together, other drills and footwork, and steps designed to be an introduction to crazylegs and g-slide, which are the major base steps of intermediate class on Mondays.
We will aim to alternate weekly between Beginner 1 and 2 classes, but what ends up happening will often depend on who is signed up - the class will be geared toward the majority!
